Pinch harmonics question?

I have a jackson warrior and for some reason when I try to pull off a pinch harmonic it sounds really weak and relatively quiet even with my amp distortion on max settings. And yet when I do it on my ibanez rg they sound great. Loud and clear. Would it help if I raised my action or tried a higher gauge of strings?
