If Act 2, scene 2 is omitted from the play, then it would be hard to understand Act 3. I think that Act 2, scene 2 was omitted is because it gave away too much information. Authors usually omit information if it gave away too much of the plot away. Authors never delete scenes from the play without a reason. Act 2, scene 2 revealed too much of Abigail's motives and characters.
