Has a verbal bequeath ever been argue in civil court?

as a practice that has been handed down thru generations ,when black people wanted to divide their property they had a family meeting an at the meeting they made a verbal bequeath telling all the family who got what.the reason being is that did not trust the court system, some could not read or write, sure there were other reasons also.i am in that situation now .my mother had a meeting ten yrs ago made a verbal bequeath an gave me the house and land every one was there.when she died my sister an brother took every thing from me,saying that the property was heir property, they all was at the meeting.they took the house an plot of land an i never so much as held the key to the house i can go in the house an they look down their nose at me.i live in georgia, some black folk did use a will but for the most part they made a verbal bequeath, can this be argued in civil court or any court for that matter.
