My fiances boss did not pay him who can we call?

My fiance worked for a certain printing company for 3 years, thoughout the time he sometimes had trouble getting paid but was always paid eventually, there wasnt a whole lot of work for him so a few months ago he went and got interviewed at another company and then was promptly fired for looking for another job. He is owed at least $500 STILL from the the previous company. For the first 2 months he called and went and talked to his former boss who bullshitted him the whole time and did not pay him and did not give him the doentation to show he worked at all. We are struggling bad financially and desperately need the money. Who can we contact to help look into that company? We dont have the money to pay a private attorney, Is there a company that will fight for you to get paid?
