Is it a bunch of BS that a Big East or ACC team gets an automatic bid to a BCS Bowl?

When they came up with the system, both conferences had several national championship contenders. Now they need to redo things. However, I don't think BSU or Utah should play in the championship game with their cupcake filled schedule. There are at least 10 teams that would go undefeated with their schedule. I wouldn't have a problem including them in a playoff, however.
