I want my boyfriend to be more romantic?

I have an amazing boyfriend, everything about him is perfect. Except for one thing. We have totaly differnt ideas of what romance is. I don't want to have to tell him this, but my ex boyfriend (who he dislikes with an intensity) was spontaneuos and romantic and left flowers at my doorstep and thing like that. And honestly, I loved it. It's not that my current boyfriend isn't romantic, it's just not the same type of romantic. Can I change this somehow or will I just have to live with it?
